• Young Germans are open to experiments, confirms a current survey on behalf of pjur group
• Older generations exercise restraint
The notion that people past 50 are way ahead of the younger generation when it comes to sex is not – entirely – true. That is the result of a current TNS Infratest survey carried out on behalf of pjur group. Apparently, the young ones are more open to trying out new things in the bedroom. 30.7 percent of the 18- to 29-year olds add some spice by using personal lubricants. Among the 50- to 59-year olds, it is only 13 percent. There is a similar discrepancy when it comes to sex toys. Roughly 38 percent of the 18- to 29-year olds play with them, while only 13 percent of the silver lovers actually use these bedroom accessories.
The young ones are in the know.
On balance, the best agers could take a leaf out of the young guns’ book when it comes to sexual variety. After all, 18.5 of the elder respondents (50-59 years old) stated: “I don’t know how to make love play more varied.” That is almost twice the percentage of 18- to 29-year olds who gave that answer. The young ones seem to be more knowledgeable and have obviously also tried new things before. So it is no wonder only about 10 percent of them answered the question “What can you do to make love play more varied?” with “I don’t know.”
Elder people think that more than two is a crowd.
In order to keep lust and passion varied, many younger couples invite somebody else into their bedroom. One out of ten respondents between 18 and 29 stated that a third participant can make sex that much more exiting. Older people don’t seem to want any of that. Only 3 percent of them want to get intimate with more than just one other person.
Sexy nurse or seductive stranger? Neither, nor, say 50+.
The younger generation is also much more into disguises and role play, while the older respondents couldn’t really warm up to these things. Almost a quarter of the young interviewees (23.2%) said that slipping into costumes and role playing are part and parcel of varied sex. Only 9.5 percent of the older people who took part in the survey shared that opinion.
Maybe the young and the old should talk about sexuality openly because the experience of the older generation is definitely also educational.
